For most of my life, wellness wasn't a choice I made—it was a necessity. At 22 months old, I was diagnosed with celiac disease, an autoimmune condition that forever changed how I interacted with food, my body, and the world around me. My early years were marked by restrictions. While other kids shared cupcakes and swapped lunchbox snacks, I carried my own plate to birthday parties, wrapped in glad wrap and filled with food that was safe but isolating.

That diagnosis sparked something in me: a deep, intuitive connection with my body. But it also laid the groundwork for an unhealthy obsession with "doing health right."

The Hidden Cost of Wellness Obsession

When I reached university, my fascination with health turned into fixation. I began studying sports science and physical education with dreams of becoming a PE teacher. But it was a single nutrition lecture that cracked everything open. I learned about the calorie equation—calories in, calories out—and it became my gospel.

From there, I spiraled into meticulous calorie counting. Every bite was logged. Every meal was weighed. I was using MyFitnessPal religiously and eating five tiny meals a day to "boost metabolism."

It started with good intentions: I wanted to feel strong, lean, and in control. But I was already conditioned for restriction. Layering calorie obsession on top of an autoimmune condition became a breeding ground for disordered eating.

Eventually, I was diagnosed with bulimia.

I didn’t tell anyone. I was ashamed, and the external praise for my "discipline" made it worse. I was also on the birth control pill from the age of 14, completely disconnected from my natural hormonal rhythm. My health was tanking, but I was so deep in the cycle of chasing "fitness" that I couldn't see the damage.

Real Healing Starts with Truth

My turning point came not from another meal plan or macro tweak—but from a moment of truth. My partner overheard me making myself sick, and for the first time, I had to face what I was doing. I stopped seeing the male nutritionist who had put me on 1300-calorie diets and shamed me when I didn't measure up.

Shortly after, I stumbled upon a holistic clinic offering functional medicine testing. Curious (and desperate), I booked a session. That experience changed everything.

I learned that my gut was inflamed, my beneficial bacteria were low, I had parasites, and my stress response was shot. I finally had data to validate how awful I felt—and that empowered me to take aligned action. I also discovered how the pill was contributing to the hormonal chaos in my body.

So I stopped taking it.

I stopped punishing my body with workouts and food rules.

And I started listening.

Root-Cause Healing and Feminine Energy

Healing wasn’t linear. I had to relearn how to eat, rest, and even think. I studied holistic nutrition, layered in functional medicine, and eventually became certified to guide others. The deeper I went into gut health, the more I understood how central it is to everything — hormone balance, mood, energy, skin, metabolism.

But what really changed my life was reconnecting with my feminine energy. For years, I lived like a man in a woman’s body—pushing, hustling, controlling. No wonder my adrenals were fried and my cycles were erratic.

Now, I live by a new model of wellness. One that honors my cycles, works with my body, and includes pleasure, nourishment, boundaries, and joy. True health isn’t about restriction. It’s about alignment.

Today, I work with women all over the world to help them heal their guts, balance their hormones, and step into their most radiant, energized selves. And it all started with a diagnosis I never chose.
