Pause, Refocus, and Level Up: A Health Collective Conversation
===
Sheree Beaumont: [00:00:00] it's been so much fun. We've had some incredible guests on and. Both of us, especially in the first half of this year, have got a lot of moving pieces, and so yes, we could expand the plate and we could try and handle more and more and more, or we had a conversation and we both looked at it and we're like, right now it feels really aligned to have an intentional pause.
And, you know, we will revisit it. We may not come back. We don't know. We are just feeling into what's gonna be most supportive for both of us and for what the future holds. And I think, you know, it's been a great learning experience, I will say. Like, I've just loved it and it's been so much fun to do this with you.
And I'm excited to see what happens. I'm not written off to there not being a future of this, but I think for the next few months, both of us are very much at. Capacity for what we can do. And if we're gonna do something and put our names behind it, we wanna do it exceptionally well.
Speaker: Welcome to the Wild and Well Collective Podcast where we believe empowered health is your superpower.
Speaker 2: We have combined our expertise in medicine and nutrition to bring you the latest research expert insights and success stories [00:01:00] of people on a mission to live a big life.
Speaker: So buckle up and get ready to learn how to live wildly well.
Sheree Beaumont: Welcome back to another episode of The Wild and Wild Collective. Today we have a little bit of surprise in store for you. We are gonna be sharing something that both of us are actually really excited about and being really intentional with. Before we dive into that, though, it will segue nicely into our topic for today.
Is a little bit about our nervous system and capacity. You know, if you listen to our episode, talking about what we wanna do going into this year and how to set your goals and set your intentions, both Kristen and I really shared how this year is going to be. Quite expansive. You know, the different words that we've chosen and the intention that we're moving forward and I think the momentum that we are carrying through into this year.
And so I think if you're listening to this and you're kind of like, holy crap, it's midway through January. We're almost in February. Am I near my goals? [00:02:00] What am I doing? This could be a really beautiful time to pause and reflect and kind of look at things through the lens that we have in order to have this conversation.
Christa Elza: Yeah, absolutely. I always at the end of the year have like, okay, a little reflection and then a little projection of like, what's coming? Like what am I anticipating? What am I calling in for the next year? And that is usually for me, a word, at least over the past several years, I kind of have a word.
And for me this year, the word is level up. It's level up, it's ascension. How do we get there? What do we need to change? What do we need to do to get to the next level? And you've probably heard this before, but what got you here isn't gonna get you there. And so it's really interesting that the different questions you have to ask or really just start to seek out other relationships that can help you in whatever goal that you're reaching.
Right? So find a community to find people who have already been where you want to go mm-hmm. Who are there to [00:03:00] kind of help guide you on like. Different ways of thinking and all of that. And so I'm excited about this year because of that goal, because of everything I learned in 2025 and what I'm taking with me into 2026.
Part of that is how do I find regulation in my sympathetic nervous system? Like how am I not in fight flutter, freeze while I'm trying to get to the next level? And I think that's a big, that's a challenge, right? There's been kind of that. Work hard, get there, don't sleep, go, go, go, go, go. And I think, honestly, not only have I heard that, I think that's just an ingrained belief in myself that in order to become more or to grow a business, et cetera, it's gonna require a lot.
It requires no vacation, it requires late hours, and that. Honestly isn't true on some level, I believe that. really getting that into my body where I feel, oh, this gets [00:04:00] to be calm and comfortable and challenging, yes, but not overwhelming. That is kind of my goal this year to really embody that, to embody.
Not burning out my body, not feeling completely spent at the end of 2026, but then be able to look back and be like, wow, this was an amazing, incredible year. I'm getting to serve so many more people in such a different bigger capacity. That's kind of where I'm going for 2026. But share, share yours as well 'cause I know you've got big goals for this coming year
Sheree Beaumont: Yeah, and I think you touched on something really important is like. There's this big concept of high functioning burnout, which I think a lot of our clients and patients experience. It's something that I know I experienced on repeat for years and learning to be able to hold the capacity. And whilst I strongly agree with you in the sense that we can have it all, quote unquote, I also think we need to learn when.
There is a time or a space to let things go or what may not [00:05:00] be serving us right now. You know? And so, I mean, I started to do this at the end of last year, like letting things go or reducing things that weren't serving me even. Like something as simple as like softwares or looking at relationships that maybe weren't serving or supporting.
And in relationships that are, like you said, helping you grow and evolve. And so this year is really. It's really gonna be another challenging year, I imagine for myself. There's a lot of levels of uncertainty a lot that I'm probably not quite ready to share yet in terms of big goals. But the business is growing and expanding much like yours and it's really exciting to see, you know, what's gonna come to that.
Huge, big focus for me is. It is like my words for this year was magnetic expansion. And so actually being able to attract in the growth and the level of visibility that I really want to have. And so choosing things that support that as well. So really, really excited for what is to come and what's unfolding and how everything is moving so rapidly in the health and wellness space.
You know, we know that longevity, which is, I know we're both, you and I [00:06:00] are very passionate about, the market for that is humongous. And so finding ourselves in a way to be at the forefront of that, which is really, really important to you. So I'd love, I know you've, you're starting to pivot in a slightly different direction with your business.
You've also got I think we may have mentioned in a previous episode, but you've got some massive, massive things moving in your side of the world. So do you wanna share with us what you see for this year? For yourself?
Christa Elza: Yeah. Well for starters, we're definitely, you know, I made my first purchase of a building, so we're moving from a rented.
Space into a bigger space, which is exciting, challenging if anybody listening has ever tried to renovate a business building, you know, there's all sorts of red tape. So, I get to learn about that. And so doing some of that renovation, it's gonna be really great to have more space, more capacity to.
Hopefully hire another version of me in our clinic here in Texas so that we can see more patients. Also, that will allow me to be able to speak more to groups and be able to [00:07:00] travel to learn more and really be able to serve more people versus one-on-one all the time. But the people who still need one-on-one support will still have me or hopefully another partner this year.
Yeah, in terms of my. I guess what sort of focus is for me, I've learned the challenge and I, you know, it came to me this morning when I was on a walk of, we have this world of like biohacking and you know, we want the latest and greatest device. But I think people are still overlooking the fact that we have massive technology to understand our own biology and to take time, money, and effort to look at your DDNA to look at deeper lab work to find a practitioner that does that, hmm, is in my mind, the biggest biohacking capability that we have now.
Because when you understand your DNA, you understand your risk. Therefore, you can take. Action significantly, decades, sooner [00:08:00] so that you don't end up with disease. One of those particularly that stands out partly because of just personal in my family finding cardiovascular, DNA markers, we have so many incredible tools.
To stop cardiovascular disease. And yet it's like the number one killer in our country. And so it's, it stands out to me that that is a significant gap between why people are dying and the information that we have available to us to prevent that. And so, I'm really shifting gears a bit in promoting I guess it would be understanding that you don't have to have a pain point.
Probably aren't gonna have symptoms until you have a major symptom. Right. And so the time to be looking at our risk factors is actually in our twenties, thirties, forties, the latest. Mm-hmm. So that we don't end up having cardiovascular events, strokes, heart attacks things like that in our fifties, sixties, seventies.
Right. So, that's really been a big shift in kind of [00:09:00] an aha of like Wow. And also if we find out that we have risk and we all do on some level. Determining our risk factor and then also the things that we implement for that really trickles down to all the other things like metabolic health and all that.
So that's been exciting and I think building and having a new building and having more capacity for space and more practitioners is gonna allow me to kind of expand just that niche that I'm feeling really passionate about this year. And so it feels good challenging. It's new. Feels a bit scary to step into a bit of a new realm in location and in positioning myself as an expert in a specific area.
Yeah, so it's all kind of chan challenging. It's all a little bit of the next level, and I'm, I'm here for it, you know.
Sheree Beaumont: No, I hear that and I know it's something you're very passionate about. The amount of times we've had conversations behind the scenes about it, and I think the genetic component, like you talked about, which I'm very excited, I'll be doing that shortly just to see what's going on in, in my body as well.
I think, you know, and we've got a whole episode on this about the [00:10:00] cardio cardiovascular health and prevention. Something that we are both very, very passionate about is preventative medicine and preventative. Action that you can take so that we can have a longer health span, not just a lifespan.
And you know, Krista and I both attended a four M conference in December last year, and it was just so great to see that that's really where medicine is moving and where we're really focusing our intention. You know, I think about what I wanna do, I love the metabolic side of things. I love the hormones.
You can catch me noting out on that and all things gut health, but the longevity piece was such. A big proponent. And so I think when you do have, you know, we don't need to get caught up in all of the fancy equipment, great to have an AA ring. It's great to have like, you know, tech to support you along the way.
But coming back to those foundational pieces, like the blood work, like the genetic testing, and just also the body literacy. I can't tell you how many times like you have to have that conversation with a client or a patient to be like. How do you feel in your body though? And like, okay, your symptoms, you know, you're being told they're normal.[00:11:00]
What are you feeling? And let's not accept that. And then how do we get you to optimal? Like I think one of the things I'm really noticing that's shifting is we're not going to be stuck in healing anymore. So to your point earlier, like. Changing because we wanna change and changing because we wanna take action earlier is beautiful to be seen that that's really where people are moving now.
And then the personalized approach that we can take with that versus, I'm gonna wait till something bad happens and then I'm gonna try and change my lifestyle. Or maybe just try and take a pill from there.
Christa Elza: For sure. I mean, we just have so much more at our fingertips and I think we just need to move the lens where it really matters.
It's fun to get a new shiny object. You know, a new ring or a new, yeah, a new red light therapy. And I'm not saying those things aren't important, just like you're saying, but I think to kind of capture the attention of people before they have a pain point is also a challenge because it's like, how do you gather up the people that are like, I mean.
I'm 30 years old. Why would I care about a heart attack when I'm 65? Like, isn't that an old person [00:12:00] problem? Actually, no. It's a problem now for you, and the only reason you're gonna have a heart attack at 65 is because you didn't take the action in your thirties. But I think just kind of getting people, you know, and, and that'll be my journey.
This getting into here is like capturing the attention and educating people so that they. Really it's lifesaving over time. So yeah, really fascinating time to be alive. I think with all the technology and all the things that we have and the cool icing on the cake with peptides and you know, things that if you have a goal health wise, there's just so much to track mm-hmm.
Progress and to know your risks and then to, you know, like I said, like have icing on the cake with like peptides or, ease of things, you know, with like dietary help and delivery and there's just so much that I'm, I love being in this space. I think it's cool, it's dynamic. There's so much happening here, and when you get people that wanna be partners with you in their health and they're ready to learn.
Yeah, it's super exciting. So tell us a little bit about what your how you're shifting. [00:13:00] Are you shifting anything this year?
Sheree Beaumont: Yeah, I mean a huge part of it is gonna be more in that longevity space and that optimization. Like I just love working with people who are wanting to take action on their health and their wellbeing.
Obviously, like the healing is a huge component to that. But I think really stepping into how do I wanna be 20, 30, 40, 50 years from now and really working on integrating, you know, our nervous system and our capacity and. To come back to what we were talking about right at the beginning, you know, the idea that we can have it all but intentional about what we wanna have versus having it all for the sake of having it all.
And I think a lot of people, you know. I often get the, the comments like, oh my gosh, you always look like you're having so much fun and blah, blah, blah. And it's like, but I'm also ridiculously healthy. And I'm very, very intentional about that. And I know that my clients are very much the same. I'm also not someone that's going out partying every weekend.
I look like I am with the stuff that I'm doing. [00:14:00] But, you know, it's learning how to have that beautiful balance, I think, or I like to call it, you know. I consciously am being consciously imbalanced and knowing that like I'm, a huge part of my journey is the mental health component. And so if I'm feeling like my brain isn't working how I want it to be, if I know that, you know, 10, 20, 30 years from the like down the track.
Cognitively, I'm not gonna be all there, or I'm gonna have low mood, or I'm not gonna have the energy I wanna have, you know, I wanna be in my eighties and still at the gym and you know, be that hot grandma that everyone's like, what the heck? How is she still, how is she still going? And so. That's really what I'm excited about is to help people be like, okay, I'm not just thinking about next year.
I'm not even just thinking about next month. I'm actually thinking about how I wanna show up for my kids and my grandkids and you know, beyond just the physical appearance, I'm gonna be sharp still. I'm gonna be fun still. I'm gonna be able to do all of the things that I wanna do in life. Like to your point, about 65, like that's not even old now.
And I think, you [00:15:00] know, we really gotta wrap our heads around the fact that. Age really is, we are extending so much further. And so, you know, I look at 50 and I'm like, is that even, that's kind of only just midlife. So really shifting gears and shifting our mindset to think about, well, how do I wanna be when I'm 60, 70 and beyond?
It's not the same as what our grandparents or our great grandparents might have been doing.
Christa Elza: For sure. Yeah, and I think it's important too, though, I mean, we're still in a human body and so it's really important for, for people to understand that like if you wanna be able to lift something overhead at 80, then you can't just be lifting that overhead.
Now if you're 35, like you've gotta be able to do significantly more to account for that natural decline of what you really desire later. And the same happens internally too. I mean, with cardiovascular health, it's like if you want to be able to have the aerobic capacity to ride your bike or go on an hour long hike.
And not have any cardiovascular incident, then you gotta be more aggressive than you think early. [00:16:00] So I think that's another cool thing about being able to educate people too in this space is just, you know, bringing that awareness. 'cause I don't think people think about it, you know, they're just busy going about their life.
We think about it 'cause this is like where we're in, but getting that point across of like, mm. I'm gonna encourage you to level up. I'm gonna encourage you to level up your awareness, your exercise, your whatever you're doing, your body's capacity now, because there will be a natural decline and we wanna stay way ahead, ahead of that curve.
Sheree Beaumont: Yeah. And I,
Christa Elza: Yeah. So that's exciting and how are you gonna make different shifts this year? In terms of that? Is it just more like, I know for me, I've always been about, you know. Health span and kind of like root cause of things. But I think really finding a niche that I feel really good about is kind of all encompasses and it doesn't really leave out anything that I've had before.
And you've kind of always talked about hormones, et cetera, but it sounds like you're gonna hone, hone in a little bit more on more
Sheree Beaumont: Yeah, a lot more in terms of [00:17:00] like the nervous system and like I said, the capacity, one of the biggest lessons for me last year was. Seeing how dysregulated I would get when things, you know, different areas of life, not my health necessarily.
'cause I'd learned how to manage that and so I was like, oh, I'm good. I'm not burnt out. Not realizing that there are a number of different areas of my life that would then impact and shake my nervous system and my ability for my nervous system to stay stable. You know, I've moved, I've been moving around a lot and I've got, I was saying to some of them, I'm in four different states in the next 10 weeks.
Like it is a lot of movement. And something that someone said to me, like one of my mentors, she was like, Cherie, you actually have the capacity to handle it. And it was just like this internal shift of going, holy shit. Like I've been telling myself this narrative, like this is too much, it's getting too much, and then I shrink and conform and not.
Feel like I could handle it all. And so it's different to just, I'm gonna operate from a dysregulated state. And like you mentioned earlier, like how do I stay out of that fight, fight or freeze as I'm moving [00:18:00] through all of these new big challenging things that are happening? It's for me, really exciting.
'cause I, the, most of the women I work with are in really high performance roles. They are having to handle, you know, being. Very much like yourself. They're running a company, they have children, they are working at super high levels. They also just wanna have the energy and they're really not willing to sacrifice the fun as well.
And so for me, that's you know, hormones come into that, gut health comes into that, genetics comes into that, biohacking comes into that and really teaching the body like, it's okay if you've got these big goals and dreams. You can hold it. It's just how do we get comfortable in the uncomfortable, and that's where some of these health practices can come into place.
So we're constantly expanding and living on that edge where it's still in our window of tolerance, but it's causing adaptation and change, like the hormetic stress that we've talked about a number of times.
Christa Elza: Yeah. I mean, the idea and the skill I think of having too much on your plate, but [00:19:00] then expanding your plate is a challenging one to say.
Okay, nothing's gonna change here, but how can I do that? And I think a lot of it does come with sometimes hard decisions or like you said, like letting go of some things that maybe, you know I've always fallen victim to like doing everything. Like I'm gonna do this, this, this, and this, because I don't wanna let go of any of it.
And then I wonder why I am not doing any of them well or to the full capacity that I could be, or why I'm not enjoying all of the things that I committed to. And. That's kind of been my song and dance like literally my whole life trying to do too many things. I would say over the last five years maybe I've really been like, okay, there needs to be a step back.
Like if I wanna do this particular goal, well then what do I need to let go of or do less of or prioritize so that at the end of it I'm feeling it physically or mentally or irritable, or. Whatever it is, in other words, [00:20:00] how can I do this and live the life that I want and feel fulfilled, but not feel like I'm doing it at the expense of like feeling anxious and my nervous system is just completely outta whack, right?
So I think especially with high achievers, it can be challenging to say. Can, how can I extend my plate? And then also, well, what should I take off my plate? Also, like, yes. Is this a challenge that I need to just be like, I'm okay. I don't have to be in strict control of everything and I can kind of expand and allow my plate to grow?
Or is it like I get to let go of a few things that aren't priority at the moment because something else is a higher priority, like high, you know, kind of ranking them right.
Sheree Beaumont: Mm-hmm. Yeah, and I think that's really where, you know, we've got to this decision, the two of us, you know, in terms of looking at what we've gone got on and what we can handle.
And you know, if we think about in terms of the podcast, it's been so much fun. We've had some incredible guests on and. Both of us, especially in the first half of this year, have got a lot of moving pieces, and so yes, we could [00:21:00] expand the plate and we could try and handle more and more and more, or we had a conversation and we both looked at it and we're like, right now it feels really aligned to have an intentional pause.
And, you know, we will revisit it. We may not come back. We don't know. We are just feeling into what's gonna be most supportive for both of us and for what the future holds. And I think, you know, it's been a great learning experience, I will say. Like, I've just loved it and it's been so much fun to do this with you.
And so I'm, you know, I'm excited to see what happens. I'm not written off to there not being a future of this, but I think for the next few months, both of us are very much at. Capacity for what we can do. And if we're gonna do something and put our names behind it, we wanna do it exceptionally well.
And to, to your point earlier, like if we can't, then maybe it is better to just put it on boards or let some,
Christa Elza: yeah. I think for me too, I mean, starting a podcast and being consistent with it and has been challenging at times for sure, but also super fun and expanding. [00:22:00] And I think it's fun to, to start something that you've never done before and be like, oh.
Okay, we can do that. You can, we can start something, we can put it out there. We can we can be consistent with it. And along the way, like you said, we met some incredible people, had really cool conversations had different conversations with each other, kind of like tapping into one another's knowledge around things.
And yeah, I think there also comes a time where you're like, Hey, I've got these goals, and which do I kind of have to put on pause? Which do I need to prioritize right now? And so, yeah, we definitely wanted to record this to kinda share how we feel what we're doing. No, we're not just leaving you in the dust and we don't know what the future holds.
But we definitely wanted to kind of explain like, Hey, we've loved this. We hope you've loved this. And right now, you know, we hope that you follow us along this journey in 2026 and follow us on social media and see what big things we're up to. And there's always. Other touch points to connect and to learn from both of us because we're both [00:23:00] very, very committed and connected to the health space.
And and yeah, this is a
Speaker 6: See you later, not a goodbye.
Sheree Beaumont: I love that. Yeah. Thank you all for being here.
Speaker 3: If you love this episode, be sure to leave us a review, download, and subscribe.
Speaker 4: If you know someone that could also benefit from this conversation, please share. That's how we Spread Empowered Health.
